ChoreHero Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy is a draft prepared as a starting point and must be reviewed by a qualified attorney before launch.

Rimshot Digital LLC (“ChoreHero,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the ChoreHero mobile application and its companion HouseHold co-living app (together, the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. ChoreHero is directed to children of all ages, including children under 13, and this policy includes a dedicated Children’s Privacy (COPPA) section.

1. Information We Collect

From parents / account holders

  • Account information: name, email address, and authentication credentials (managed by our platform’s login).
  • Household information: household name and join code/password, subscription and billing details.
  • Parental settings: notification preferences, schedule blocks, and media you upload.
  • Payment information for subscriptions is handled by our payment processor; we do not store full card numbers.

About children (entered and controlled by the parent)

  • Child’s first name, age, date of birth (used for birthday features and age-bracket progression, and to tailor age-appropriate chores).
  • Avatar (optional photo or emoji) and selected theme.
  • Chore assignments, completion records, photo proofs, and reward/payout records.
  • Allowance and earnings records, including chosen payout method and, where you enable them, gaming-platform usernames used to deliver credits you authorize.
  • Optional notification email and bedtime used to send daily chore reminders.

Sensitive child data — only when a parent expressly enables it

  • Location & GPS: real-time device location, geofence zones, and geofence-violation history. Available only when a parent turns on Parental Controls / GPS for a specific child and grants access to a specific authorized adult. Off by default.
  • Fitness: data synced from connected fitness apps (Apple Health, Google Fit, Strava, Fitbit, Garmin, WHOOP). Available only when a parent enables fitness tracking for a child. Off by default.
  • Photos: chore-verification photos, flash-offer submissions, and media you upload to the Media Vault.

Communications & usage

  • In-app household chat and 1:1 direct message content (auto-translated across languages when you choose).
  • Automated notifications we send at your request (morning/evening reminders, overdue alerts, birthday reminders, summaries).
  • Aggregated usage analytics to improve reliability, accessibility, and features.

2. Children’s Privacy (COPPA)

We comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and related state children’s-privacy laws. ChoreHero is directed to children under 13.

  • Verifiable parental consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from a child. A parent or legal guardian must create the household account, add the child, and provide the child’s information. By creating the account and agreeing to these terms and this Privacy Policy, you represent that you are the child’s parent or legal guardian and consent to our collection of your child’s personal information as described here.
  • Additional consent for sensitive features. Location/GPS, fitness data, and photo collection each require a separate, express in-app authorization from the parent before any such data is collected for a child. These features are off by default.
  • Your parental rights. You have the right to: (a) review the personal information we hold about your child; (b) request correction of inaccurate information; (c) request deletion of your child’s account and personal information; (d) withdraw consent to any feature at any time (for example, turning off GPS or fitness tracking disables further collection); and (e) refuse further collection or use.
  • How to exercise your rights. Use the in-app parental controls, or email us at chorehero.contact@gmail.com. We will respond within a commercially reasonable time, generally within 30 days.
  • No sale of children’s data. We do not sell personal information of children or any users.
  • Data retention for children. Child information is retained while the household account is active and until a parent deletes the child profile or account. We automatically close accounts (and begin a retention process) after extended inactivity.

3. How We Use Information

  • To provide and operate the Service — chores, allowances, rewards, schedules, messaging, and the modules you choose.
  • To deliver the notifications and summaries you or your child request.
  • To enable safety features you as a parent select (for example, location-based geofence alerts for a child’s safety).
  • To process subscription billing and to maintain an accounting ledger of chore earnings between you and your child (see Terms of Service).
  • To provide customer support and respond to privacy requests.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We share information only as described here:

  • Service providers we use to operate the Service (hosting, authentication, email, analytics, AI support assistant, and payment processing), under contracts that require them to protect the information and use it only to provide their services to us.
  • Within your household as you choose (for example, a second parent or bonus adult you grant access to view a child’s data).
  • Legal compliance: if required by law, court order, or to protect rights, safety, or prevent harm.
  • Business transfers: in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of all or part of our business, subject to continued confidentiality.

We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties, and we do not share children’s personal information for targeted advertising.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain personal information for as long as the account is active. Parents can delete a child profile or the entire household account at any time through the app or by contacting us. Inactive household purses are subject to dormancy handling and, after an extended period (currently 18 months of inactivity), auto-closure.

6. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or limit use of your personal information. Parents have these rights on behalf of their children as described in Section 2. To exercise any right, email chorehero.contact@gmail.com.

We do not sell personal information and do not process personal information for targeted advertising directed to children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the app and update the “Effective date” above. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email where possible.
